High Holiday Services: Embracing Community and Connection

at Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services

As the community moves forward from the Passover season, Vista House of Lovingkindness – Beit Chesed remains dedicated to being a sanctuary of inclusivity and warmth. With planning for the upcoming High Holidays already underway, the organization is sharing important updates regarding this year’s programming.

Since the onset of the pandemic, Vista House has offered virtual access to services to keep the community connected during challenging times. However, the leadership has reflected on the unique power of physical presence. The most sanctifying acts of the holidays—the shared songs, the eye contact, and the collective warmth of the room—are best experienced in person. Seeing the courage of a Vista Del Mar resident in the choir or the pride of a Nes Gadol student leading prayer on the beemah creates a sense of belonging that a screen simply cannot replicate.

To balance the needs of the community with the sustainability of their programs, Vista House is transitioning its streaming options. For the upcoming holidays, livestreaming will be available for evening services (Erev Rosh HaShanah and Kol Nidrei). However, all daytime services—including Rosh HaShanah morning, Yom Kippur morning, and Yizkor/Ne’ilah—will be held exclusively in person.

Vista House of Lovingkindness remains committed to its mission of accessibility; there are no required membership fees or charges to attend High Holiday services. To keep this tradition sustainable, the organization invites those who are able to consider a suggested donation of $360 per family. Gifts of any amount are deeply appreciated and help cover the costs of programming and the remaining livestreaming services. When donating please enter HIGH HOLIDAYS in the Please indicate what this donation is for box.

For those who have questions or need assistance, please reach out to Rabbi Jackie Redner at JackieRedner@VistaDelMar.org or call 310.836.1223 ext. 209. Vista House of Lovingkindness looks forward to welcoming everyone home this fall to pray, sing, and celebrate as one singular community.
