This past year was one that asked everything of us. There is no graceful way to describe what the past year demanded of this organization. The challenges were real, layered, and at times relentless, regulatory transitions, workforce pressures, fiscal uncertainty, and the ever-present weight of serving some of Los Angeles’ most vulnerable young people through it all. Vista Del Mar felt every one of those pressures. And Vista Del Mar held.

This past year has been filled with joys, wins, tragedy, and disappointments. We have cheered together, held each other with tears in our eyes, and come out the other side standing strong and resolute.

Across the country, we are witnessing a dramatic increase in children and adolescents experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma-related disorders, and substance use challenges. The demand for mental health and substance use disorder treatment has surged, yet systemic challenges continue to create barriers to care.

As we reflect on the past year at Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for the unwavering commitment and resilience displayed by our entire community. The year 2023 has been one of remarkable challenges and profound achievements as we navigated the complex landscapes of change and uncertainty. The needs of our children and families have evolved, and so are we.
