Russell & Sasha
Dear Birth Parents,
Thank you for taking the time to look through our profile as you make such an important decision in your life. We are Sasha and Russell, and we are grateful for the opportunity to introduce ourselves to you today.
About Russell & SashaWe met 11 years ago in Los Angeles when a mutual friend introduced us. We are both from the East Coast originally and moved to Los Angeles to pursue our dreams in film and radio. We were married on a ranch in Southern California surrounded by the beautiful rolling hills, avocado and lemon trees. We partied the night away in the great outdoors. It was awesome. We like to hike, go to the movies, hang with our friends and their kids and travel! Sasha has been to over 14 countries and counting, and we both love to explore the world whenever we can. We also love art, going to museums, riding bikes and being creative. We have three nephews ages 6, 4 and 9 months. They are active and fun little boys who love sports, art and watching cartoons with their mom and dad. This will be the 4th grandchild for Sasha’s mother, and the first for Russell’s father. We’ve been together long enough to know for certain that we’re a good team. We support each other in every endeavor, we always have each other’s backs.
Meet Russell (by Sasha)
Russell is kind, loving and just an all around great guy. What you see is what you get with him, and that makes him someone that everyone loves and trusts. His enthusiasm for learning and creating is undoubtedly one of the best parts about him. He loves to make things and his curiosity to teach himself new stuff all of the time is one of the most exciting parts of going into a parenting journey with him. I can’t wait to watch him teach our child all that he loves about this world. Whether it’s computer programming or storytelling (he’s a film editor), camping or fun board games that only Russ would know about, he is going to be an amazing father and I feel lucky to have him by my side.
Meet Sasha (by Russell)
Sasha is witty, charismatic, and caring. She’s just one of those people you know was raised right. She remembers all the important stuff (like packing snacks before a flight or filling up my water bottle before I leave the house) and she’ll never show up to your home without a gift. Her ability to throw meals together in 10 minutes borders on a supernatural. She also knows how to express herself both verbally or artistically (our home is covered with her art). She’s deeply committed to those she loves and and I'm so excited for when I get to see her commit that deeply to our child.
Our family lives all over the country (and out of the country too: Sasha’s Uncle lives in Guatemala), and we travel to see them throughout the year. We are close with all of them and love getting to spend time with everyone. Our immediate family both live near each other in Florida so we all get to spend the holidays together! In California, Russell’s brother is just 15 minutes away and we see him every week.
We live two miles from the beach on the border of Brentwood and Santa Monica with our two cuddly cats. Being so close to the beach means we bicycle to the water any time we want in less than 15 minutes, the perfect way to take a break from things and relax. Our neighborhood has everything we need in walking distance. There are tons of kid friendly parks and playgrounds. There’s even a beach just for families! The Santa Monica mountains and Malibu have miles of nature and hiking that we love to explore.
Our Thoughts on Parenting:
We have had the chance to witness parenting styles all around us as friends and family have grown their families over the past 5 years or so.
We’ve been the Auntie and Uncle to three amazing boys and have had the chance to see what we think would work best in our home and what perhaps is better suited for another family. We also understand that all of that will change the minute we become parents.
One thing we do know for sure: our home is filled with love. We are both ready to put our all into helping another human navigate this life and will grow and adapt based on those needs. At the end of the day our job is to give them the wisdom we have, allow them to become who they were meant to be and help them process their unique experiences in the world.
