Donald & Jennifer
Dear Birth Mom:
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and learn about our family. There is so much we would like to share with you in this little profile so that you can get to know us and see a glimpse of all the love we have to share.
About Donald & JenniferWe are a family of three, Donald, Jennifer, and Christopher. After much difficulty and many years of trying, we had our biological son, Christopher. He is now three years old and the most loving, mischievous, and happy child we could have hoped for. After learning we would not be able to have another child, we knew instantly that adoption would be our path. We know firsthand what an amazing blessing adoption is. Donald’s mother and grandfather were both adopted, so it is something that is very dear to us and something that is a true building block of our family.
Meet Jennifer (By Donald)
Jennifer is an incredible person. She is everything to me and our family. She has a heart of gold. Her attitude, smile, and laughter will brighten anyone’s day. She has a great sense of humor and enjoys joking and playing around with people of all ages. She is intelligent and enjoys reading historical novels, plus she is an excellent cook. Her devotion to our family is inspiring. She is an amazing mother to Christopher and only cares about his happiness and well-being. On her days off, she takes Christopher to museums, arboretums, observatories, and zoos. Having her child experience all the joys this world has to offer is a priority in her life. At home she has a regular routine of reading books before bed every night, and exposes him to educational games and creative art activities. I could not ask for a better mother to Christopher or woman to have as a partner for life.
Meet Donald (By Jennifer)
My favorite quality in Donald is that he is truly young at heart. Even though he’s dedicated to his career, he still finds the time to joke and play and wrestle with Chris. He lights up a room when he comes in and everyone loves being around him.
Donald has always been a wonderful husband and partner. I can count on him to cook, clean, and fold laundry when I get stuck at work late. I can also count on him to always have our family’s best interests at heart. When we found out we were going to have a child, it was Donald that went right to the bank and opened up a college fund.
His work ethic is something that I am most proud of. It’s a quality that he will teach our children by example, and it’s something that will help them to one day be successful. But putting hard work aside, he will also be the one to teach our children how to be true adventurers. From his love of dirt bike riding in the desert to snorkeling at the beach, he never runs out of hobbies!
He has a kind and caring spirit and I couldn’t ask for a more loving and attentive husband and father.
The energy and excitement in our family definitely comes from Christopher. Christopher was born May 29th, 2013, and is a pretty typical three-and-a-half year old boy. He does well in his daycare/preschool and has many friends. Every day when I pick him up I like to ask him what he had for his hot lunch, what activities did he do, and who got in trouble today. The last question is his favorite because he thinks it’s so funny to tell me who got a time-out that day, even if it was him!
His favorite thing to do is spend time with his grandparents. That’s where he’s treated like a king. At Grammie and Papi’s house he walks down their nature path and picks lemons for lemonade, swims in the pool in the summer, plays in the game room on the pinball machine or the electric piano or even plays PlayStation with his cousins.
At home he loves to help Mommy cook and play Super Mario with Daddy. He also loves to cover the living room floor with toys while watching his favorite TV shows.
Every night he gets to play in the bath, and right before bed he always gets three bedtime stories.
What makes him special is not only how he’s joyful and curious, but it’s his tender and loving nature. He is gentle with babies and kind to smaller kids. His bed is covered in stuffed animals, each of which he had to have and each of which he loves and caries around with him around the house. You can always count on him for hugs and kisses, and if you’re lucky enough to get him to stay in one place for a few minutes, snuggling with Christopher is just about the most wonderful thing in the world.
Funny, happy, protective, and a bit of a troublemaker, are the best qualities in an amazing big brother.
Our Thoughts on Parenting:
Our thoughts on parenting are simple. It is our highest priority in life to provide our children with a stable and loving home, to instill in them the value of family, and to create an environment where they can thrive. Education was always so important to us in creating the life we have today, so it’s also something that we think plays a significant part in the success of a child. A quality education has great lifelong value, and we will do everything in our power to provide that.
Parenting is the greatest responsibility a person can have, and even when it’s difficult, we will always do our very best to guide our children and to prepare them to one day become healthy and happy adults.
